About Royal

We Do More Than Simply “Our Job.”

How it Began

The vision for Royal started with two young engineers working together in the industry with a belief they could do it better than it had been done before ─ better for clients, better for employees, and better for communities. From that initial vision, Royal brought its distinctive brand of engineering and consulting to the Gulf Coast in 2005, establishing its headquarters in New Orleans. Soon after opening, Hurricane Katrina devastated the city, and Royal quickly became immersed in recovery efforts, developing niche expertise in the unique challenges of recovery and rebuilding from natural disasters and coastal land loss.

Founded with a culture focused on innovative solutions and dedication to our community, Royal quickly expanded from our initial services of Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Program Management, and Disaster Recovery to meet new challenges head on, with Coastal Engineering, Coastal Planning & Science, Structural Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Compliance, and Grants Management becoming key services in Royal’s portfolio. Now, after nearly two decades in business, we continue to strive to be our clients’ first call in the face of complex challenges.

Our Greatest Asset

The Royal team collectively shares varied skillsets, unique backgrounds, and a vast range of experience to support a myriad of projects and initiatives. Our unifying factor is that the work we do matters and creates significant impact in the world around us.

Today we celebrate the professionals who help turn community ideas into real impact. On International Grant Professionals Day, we recognize the dedication of grant professionals who work behind the scenes to secure funding for critical projects and initiatives.

At Royal, we’re proud of the team members who help our partners navigate the grant process and bring meaningful projects to life. Thank you to all grant professionals for the important work you do every day. 👏

#GrantProfessionalsDay
Royal was proud to sponsor the 2026 Members First Conference hosted by the Louisiana Member Services Association in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The Louisiana Member Services Association brings together member services professionals from electric cooperatives across the state to collaborate, share ideas, and strengthen the programs that serve cooperative members and their communities. From consumer education and community outreach to youth programs and economic development initiatives, these professionals play a vital role in ensuring that electric cooperatives continue to put Members First.

We are honored to support organizations that help strengthen Louisiana communities and the cooperatives that power them.

Special thank you to Mallory Norris, Grants Manager, and Ron Mitchell, Senior Project Manager, for representing Royal’s Disaster Response & Recovery Service Line at this year’s conference.
Celebrating five years of progress on the Rabbit Island Restoration Project.

As part of Louisiana’s Natural Resource Damage Assessment Restoration Plan, Rabbit Island located in the Calcasieu-Sabine Basin in Cameron Parish, was selected to restore the state’s westernmost colonial waterbird colony and the only pelican nesting habitat west of the Atchafalaya River. Before restoration, most of the remaining 200 acres were open water or below sea level.

Our team led all analysis, design, and construction management phases of the project. We conducted comprehensive topographic, bathymetric, geotechnical, and coastal climatological reviews; delineated a sandy borrow source within the Calcasieu Ship Channel; and deployed water level and wave monitoring to drive hydrodynamic and shoreline protection design. We engineered 165 acres of restored avian habitat and 2,520 feet of shoreline protection, designing to elevations to account for settlement, subsidence, and sea level rise over a 20-year design life.

Five years later, the result is a resilient, protected habitat built on precision engineering and science driven design.
