USDA Thibodaux Office Renovation and New Storage Building

Location:

Thibodaux, Louisiana

Client:

USDA

Project Overview
Royal was selected as the architect of record for the design build project to renovate an 8,000 square foot building that served as a doctor’s complex into the USDA’s new Thibodaux office space. The space was designed to accommodate three separate internal groups with disparate operations. The project included parking for over 40 vehicles, a boat storage building and canopy, and a wareyard. Royal was the prime design consultant leading the team of mechanical, electrical, and civil and structural engineers to complete design and construction administration.

Project Work and Royal Solutions
As the design partner in this design build project, Royal worked closely with the client to meet the budget and the USDA requirements based on federal standards for construction. The existing building layout and framing design created a challenge when separating the office spaces for the three distinct groups. Our architects listened to the needs of the Farms Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and NRCS Watershed Department. Each division of the USDA office required their own separate office area with specific storage and unique needs while sharing conference rooms, break rooms, and restroom facilities. Royal stepped up to the challenge, creating a floorplan that worked for all three divisions within the confines and structural layout of the existing building.
